Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about AlfaBrief — what it covers, how the pipeline works, and how to get started.

About AlfaBrief

What is AlfaBrief?

AlfaBrief is an automated intelligence service that monitors major crypto news sources around the clock, filters stories by market impact, and publishes concise trader-focused briefs at 08:00 UTC daily. It is designed for active traders who need to know what is moving markets before the information is widely distributed — not for general crypto enthusiasts or long-term holders.

Who is it for?

AlfaBrief is built specifically for active spot and derivatives traders. Every brief is written to answer one question: what does this mean for your current positions? If you trade intraday or hold leveraged positions overnight, AlfaBrief gives you the context you need before the market opens.

How is AlfaBrief different from CoinDesk or CoinTelegraph?

General crypto publications write for a broad audience. AlfaBrief writes for traders. The distinction is structural: every story is filtered for market impact, written in direct trader language, and ends with a specific level or signal to watch. Content that does not affect open positions is not published.

Is AlfaBrief free?

Yes. The daily digest and all archived stories are free to access. Subscribe with your email to receive the brief each morning directly to your inbox. No subscription fee, no premium tier, no upsell.

Content & Coverage

What topics does AlfaBrief cover?

Six categories: Policy (regulatory actions, ETF decisions, legislation), Markets (liquidation cascades, funding rate extremes, leverage wash-outs), Economy (Fed decisions, CPI, macro catalysts), Technology (DeFi exploits, protocol governance, on-chain events), Trading (whale movements, institutional accumulation, exchange flows), and Data (token unlocks, scheduled supply events).

How often is content published?

Stories are published to the website immediately when they clear the signal filter — no waiting for a scheduled send. Subscriber emails go out every 5 days with the most relevant stories from that window. Separately, URGENT alerts fire immediately when a liquidation cascade exceeds $30M on Hyperliquid (equivalent to roughly $300–600M across all exchanges) — these bypass the 5-day cadence entirely.

Where does the content come from?

The pipeline monitors CoinDesk, CoinTelegraph, The Defiant, Wu Blockchain, and Blockworks for editorial coverage, plus scheduled token unlock data from Tokenomist and live Hyperliquid liquidation data for real-time cascade detection. All source material is scored and filtered by AI before publication. Source attribution is included in every brief.

Can I read past stories?

Yes. Every story published by AlfaBrief remains permanently accessible on this site. Browse by topic using the navigation, search by keyword using the search bar, or scroll the homepage archive.

Live Data

What is the Market Signals section?

Market Signals displays live data points updated every few minutes: Fear & Greed Index, Bitcoin dominance, BTC funding rates, and open interest. These are drawn from public APIs including CoinGecko and Binance. It gives you a quick read on overall market sentiment without leaving the page.

What is the Live Data page?

The Live Data page (/data) is a full institutional signals dashboard built for active traders. It is organised into four sections: Institutional Signals, Liquidation Levels, Exchange Buy/Sell Pressure, and Market Signals. The Institutional Signals section is the main addition — see below.

What are the Institutional Signals?

Institutional Signals shows the data that moves markets before the news does. It covers dealer options positioning (how much gamma and delta exposure market makers are carrying), ETF flow estimates, futures basis, funding rates across multiple exchanges, stablecoin supply changes, Coinbase premium versus Binance, and a comparison of 30-day realized volatility against implied volatility. All signals are sourced from free public APIs including Deribit, Binance, OKX, Bybit, and Farside.

What are the four presets on the Institutional Signals section?

Each preset reorganises the signals around a specific question a trader might be asking. Default shows everything at a glance. Options Expiry focuses on dealer gamma and vanna exposure — useful when a major options expiry is approaching. Trend Confirm compares spot demand against leverage growth to assess whether a price move is backed by real buying or just derivatives froth. Stress Watch highlights the signals most likely to precede a forced unwind: cross-exchange funding divergence, funding rate extremes, and cascade risk from dealer positioning.

How fresh is the data?

Most signals update every 15 to 60 seconds. ETF flow data is an exception — it is sourced from Farside and carries a one-day lag by nature, clearly labelled on the card. Funding rates and open interest are near real-time. Options data from Deribit refreshes every 15 seconds.
