Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

AlfaBrief collects minimal data to operate the service. This policy explains exactly what is collected, how it is used, which third parties receive it, and what rights you have over your information.

What data we collect

Email address

Collected when you subscribe to the newsletter or create an account. Used to deliver the daily brief and account-related communications. Stored by Clerk (authentication) and Ghost (newsletter platform).

Authentication data

Managed by Clerk. Includes your email, session tokens, and login activity. Clerk is the sole processor of this data — AlfaBrief does not store authentication credentials independently.

localStorage preferences

Your theme preference (light/dark) is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.

IP address (rate limiting)

When you submit the subscribe form, your IP address is used for rate limiting (maximum 5 attempts per hour). This is held in server memory only and is not persisted to any database.

Cookies and local storage

AlfaBrief does not use first-party tracking cookies. The site uses localStorage solely to persist your theme preference across visits.

Clerk, the authentication provider, sets session cookies required to keep you logged in. These are functional cookies and cannot be disabled while using the account features.

Third-party embedded widgets (TradingView charts, Coinglass heatmap, Google Translate) may set their own cookies when those widgets are loaded. Refer to each provider's policy above for details.

Data retention

Newsletter subscriptions: retained until you unsubscribe. Each email includes an unsubscribe link.

Account data (via Clerk): retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

IP rate-limit data: held in server memory only. Cleared automatically every hour.
