Pudgy Penguins has rolled out its Vibes Series 3 trading cards to Target stores across the United States, marking the NFT project's largest retail expansion to date. According to the project, total card circulation has now reached 15 million units. The new set includes additional gameplay mechanics, original artwork, and appearances from characters in the Moonbirds collection. Pudgy Penguins developed the trading card game with Orange Cap Games, following two earlier releases. The project ranks as the fourth-largest NFT collection by market capitalization, per NFT Price Floor.

This matters because it suggests commercial traction for NFT intellectual property in physical consumer channels. Pudgy Penguins entered more than 2,000 Walmart stores in 2023, and CEO Luca Netz said in May 2024 that more than 1 million toys had been sold over the preceding 12 months. The Target rollout expands distribution. The project's licensing model allows NFT holders to receive 5% of net revenue from physical products featuring their individual penguins, creating a direct cash-flow link between digital asset ownership and retail performance.

For traders, this reinforces the thesis that NFT floor prices can be supported by real-world revenue generation, not just speculative collector demand. Projects with licensing and physical distribution may decouple from the broader NFT market during periods of low sentiment. Pudgy Penguins has also pursued gaming expansion, launching the skill-based Pengu Clash game on The Open Network in 2025 and a mobile game called Pudgy Party in August 2025. According to Pudgy Penguins, Pudgy Party's downloads exceeded 1 million. The project said on Monday that it would halt further development of Pudgy Party and focus its resources on a browser-based game called Pudgy World, indicating a shift in strategic priorities.

If Pudgy Penguins can demonstrate repeatable revenue at scale, it sets a template for how high-value NFT collections might monetize beyond secondary market trading.
